To be eligible for this program, you must:

  1. Have a strong interest in pursuing a PhD degree in a biomedical field.
  2. Be a US citizen or Permanent Resident.
  3. Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Individuals from the following groups are especially encouraged to apply:

  • Members of minority groups underrepresented in the biomedical sciences: African American, Latino(a)/Chicano(a), Native American, Alaska Native, Hawaiian Native, and Native of the U.S. Pacific Islands. Or:
  • Students from disadvantaged backgrounds, that is, first-generation college students and/or students from low-income families.

Note: This application form must be completed to participate in the IMSD program either as a Junior Affiliate, an Affiliate, or a Fellow. These three roles are described in detail in the IMSD literature. Students at the freshman level can apply to become Junior Affiliates, and students at the sophomore level who are currently taking introductory science courses can apply to become IMSD Affiliates. Students who have successfully completed at least the first level of science courses with an average grade of 3.0 or better and who are within two years (60 credits) of graduation can apply to become IMSD Fellows. (Students with lower GPAs will be considered on a case-by-case basis.)Please note that all information provided will remain confidential.
